The residents of the Village are served by the Mount Horeb Area School District, which educates over 2000 students in pre-Kindergarten through grade twelve. The district operates five schools: the Early Learning Center (preschool and kindergarten), the Primary Center (grades (1-2), the Intermediate Center (grades 3-5), the Middle School, and the High School. Students in all grades are provided with a comprehensive curriculum in art, computer literacy, guidance and counseling, health, language arts, math, media, music, physical education, reading, science and social studies. The goal of the Mount Horeb Area School District is to nurture, educate, and graduate students who are knowledgeable and civic-minded, prepared to make ethical decisions, confident and competent communicators, skillful in problem-solving, capable of creative thinking and career path motivated. The district also feels it is crucial that students graduate possessing the appropriate skills necessary to succeed in a multi-cultural global society.
In addition to the Public Schools, Hearts and Hands is a locally owned, fully licensed pre-school and child care program that is a creative and stimulating environment for children in their early years. The nationally accredited Children’s Community School offers Montessori instruction for ages 18 months to 6 years, stressing a well-balanced early childhood enrichment program.
The Village is within close proximity to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (a Big Ten school), Edgewood College, and Madison Area Technical College. These institutions offer a variety of cultural and educational opportunities for Village residents.
